I've been on a huge kick recently for The Killers. They dropped their first album, "Hot Fuss" when I was in high school and I've been a ride or die fan ever since. I don't know why, exactly, other than I just like the sounds they make. Most of my other favorite bands are closely tied to specific times in my life or bring up a really particular emotional connection. The Killers just make music that I really really like. I like literally every single song I've ever heard them sing which I can't actually say for most of the bands that I consider my favorites.
So, I drew Brandon Flowers who is the lead singer. I found a recording of their Lollapalooza in Brazil concert performance which was almost exactly an hour and half long and that's how long it took me to draw this. I could have fiddled with it some more, but, like, it's Brandon Flowers fanart and I wasn't about to spend three hours of life whittling away at getting his stubble exactly right, you know?
Anyway, I love him. Click to enlarge!

Date: 2019-03-04 07:52 pm (UTC)From:Hot Fuss is still one of my absolutely top favorite albums. I've listened to every track SO MANY TIMES it's almost hard for me to remember which were released singles and which weren't. Battle Born is also super good, but my heart kind of belongs to Sam's Town which was their second album and has a really different sound from Hot Fuss. But, like, seriously though. I have liked every song of theirs I've ever heard. Unprecedented!

Date: 2019-03-04 04:14 pm (UTC)From:also i love the killers. they were like. the one band i absolutely loved in high school omg. its embarrassing to think about but i had so much fun!!!
i remember the summer before tenth grade i sprained my ankle really bad, but i had standing-room-only killers tickets for like a week away.
so there i fucking was, with my ankle brace inside my leather boot, having THE TIME OF MY LIFE. nothing was gonna stop me and when brandon flowers jumped off the stage and ran along the barrier i reached my hand out and like on the roof of the sistine chapel my finger brushed his hand.
it was gross and clammy and i had never been more excited.

Date: 2019-03-04 07:56 pm (UTC)From:I feel like I've only loved them more as time has gone on. I definitely had some incredibly embarrassing musical obsessions in high school, but I have cried over "A Dustland Fairytail" as very much an adult in public. (It had been a really rough day, in my defense!) I haven't had the opportunity to see them live, but I would probably seriously consider offering up my own precious ankle for an opportunity to!

it was totally worth it to go with a sprained ankle.
