Kitty! And anniversary date
Jan. 13th, 2019 02:23 amI decided on a whim to do this piece today. It's mostly done with watercolor brushpens, but I used colored pencils to detail the leaves and markers to detail the bricks. I'm really happy with this. I really wanted to do a very cartoony kitty contrasted with much more natural-looking leaves and bricks. I was shooting for something between Fat Pony and the crazy elaborate evening gown!

I also had a really nice date night with J tonight. January 10 was our four-year wedding anniversary and, well, we're really bad at anniversaries. We've been married four years, but we've been in a relationship for 12 years? And living together for nearly 10 years. For most of the time we were together, we could never quite agree on when we actually got together, so we never bothered with an anniversary. January 10th was the midpoint compromise date between when J thinks we got together (being more romantic) and when I think we got together (being more pragmatic) so we picked it as our wedding date. After 8 years of not remembering our cobbled-together anniversary, we are not any better at remembering our ACTUAL anniversary. I had forgotten completely until my old boss--who was at our wedding--wished us a happy anniversary. I reminded J who picked up some flowers for me on the way home from work, though it was wasn't necessary. <3
So, tonight, J said she wanted to treat me to a nice dinner out, so we went to a restaurant that she'd gone to before for with some co-workers and had been itching to take me to ever since. It was super nice! We don't really go out much anymore and it was really nice exploring a nice new place with my honey!
